*shudder*
Oh, my.

Here... get closer. Give him a smooch, you know you want to.

I kind of wish we'd gone to the Sonoma-Marin Fair this summer - it's only a mile away, after all, and I might've had amusing/terrifying World's Ugliest Dog Contest anecdotes to share now.

Mixed Nuts
I'm resolved. The VERY FIRST THING I'ma doing post-holidays is getting another carseat (yes, thinking about one Marathon, but not sure if Goore's with a discount will be cheaper than Target without one...?) Being housebound on a Sunday with the little crankmeister is just poopy.

We risked the fireplace again, this time with a nice little CO detector. Everything is clear, so it was likely just a stuck flue last time. Which makes me happy, because even what passes for our winter doesn't seem quite right without a fire.

No, I probably won't see HPIV until it's out on DVD. At least Serenity is out in December, which is a nice enough appetizer.

I am never going to be able to get the daylight hours/Daniel moods/D. home stars to align in time for any kind of Christmas photo. I'm taking Daniel to Picture People, and may God himself strike me down if I get suckered into buying every pose again. Ah, the hazards of having an almost criminally adorable child.

I think I'm addicted to Ghirardelli Double Chocolate. My word.

Jive Turkey
Could I be in any less a holiday mood? No, I don't believe so.

People are out of control, I've had too much homework this week (both in quantity and level of frustration), I think we gave ourselves a mild case of CO poisoning with our fireplace, and D. may not even be able to spend Thanksgiving day with us.

I'm making fresh pear pie tonight, though. Perhaps that will help. Tomorrow we'll also be having roast turkey breast, candied yams (a premiere), a wild rice dish, mashed potatoes, stuffed kalamatas, and creamed peas (not a moment too soon, slurp).

My current list of un-favorite words. Or, more nice, cheery holiday-time fare. Ahem.

8. Distance
7. Insomnia

Psssssst
Hey, you! Yeah, you, person from southern Washington, or thereabouts, who keeps searching for my maiden name. Since I believe it's a fairly uncommon one, the curiosity is just about killing me here!

Warming the Cockles of My Cranky Ticker
I'll admit it: I was worried that Daniel wasn't going to be, well, very cuddly. For the longest time, he wanted to be held, but only if it meant we were moving. He was screamy. "Mellow" and "content" were not part of his repetoire.

But now! He'll just plop down wherever I happen to be, curl up, and snuggle. Or glom onto my leg, squeeze, and say "mmmm."

On days when he's really pleased with how I'm progressing as his Mommy Trainee... Then, he'll even feed me the very last Cheerio on his tray with a giant grin.

Get Thee Off Mine Posterior
I'm having a real problem with proximity these days. It always bothers, but lately people seem more intent on becoming my Siamese twin. Maybe it's my perfume. Perhaps it's that glazed, maniacal, antithetical holiday shopping spirit that makes my skin crawl and other mothers beat each other senseless for the last [insert latest annoying fad toy].

More likely, it's because I just went to W*lM*rt.

Why are so many carts rammed up my ass in line? Why? Is getting your Ding Dongs and Bud Light on the conveyor NowNowNOW so important that I must be slaughtered as the meat for your cart sandwich?

Must you take up the entire aisle? Did I forget to take off my invisibility cloak again?

Can I ask that you not drive two feet from my bumper? Please?

And is it entirely necessary to make grabby hands two inches from my face? You can't wait just, like, five seconds, until I've taken what I wanted from the shelf and gone? Really???

A little personal space doesn't seem like much to ask. Think of it as a free and sincerely appreciated holiday gift from you to me.

Hot and Creamy
I've spent nearly two decades boycotting creamed vegetables, runny generic canned creamed corn having severely biased me against them in childhood.

But, since I recently decided to open the door for Brussels sprouts (granted, commercially prepared and slathered with a cheesy sauce), I thought I might give them another chance. So I tried my hand at creamed peas.

And holy. Crap. So good. I had more for dessert.

Preparing for the Flush
The thing about the 'net is that sometimes (if you're as pathetic as me) it manages to get you more invested (yes, emotionally) in a site than you'd be wise to let it. Because, eventually, the Real Person behind it will lose interest/time/money/etc/etc and decide that it's not as worthy/important/meaningful/etc/etc as you do, and quite before you know it - *pwoof*! it'll be gone.

Needly Things
Things I could use about now:

  • A clone
  • ...or at least a babysitter
  • Pocky
  • A screwdriver (Absolut, not Craftsman)
  • Dr. Sears' cell number
  • A second carseat
  • Elf
  • Time to get the long-overdue new design up and running here
  • A lung vacuum
  • Balls, for to quash the nagging once and for all
  • Someone kind enough to return that library board book I left on the plane
  • Six or so hours entirely alone
  • A magic Christmas Gift Idea Fairy

    Knit Magic Redux???
Hey, lookee what I bumped into entirely by accident! So cute. The basic machine design looks similar to the vintage machine - I wonder if they've made any improvements to the function?

    Linky Loopy Doopty Loo
My links list is so out of date, I don't even know where to begin anymore. People change blogware these days like they change their underwear, and my fuddled head can't keep up.

Nevermind the whole password issue. No offense, but I've almost entirely stopped reading passworded posts (unless you're on Blogger). I'm getting ever shorter on time and equally sick and lazy, so if I can't remember what my password was every time my computer craps out my cookies... well. It's too much hassle for something that's supposed to be easy and fun.

    P.S. Get thee some RSS!

    Mwah-Ha-Ha-Ha
If you cackle like The Count, Daniel will now mimic you. And it seems almost as if he knows how to use it on his own, too - yesterday he did it while making off with the Media Center remote.

    Out of the Loop
See, I'm working hard on not trying to take everything so personally. I am! And mostly, I think I'm doing an okay job.

But there's been a trend this past year, one that bothers me, and I honestly don't know if it should or not. Or how much it should. Being the Socially Challenged one, and all.

Three people I've known (two of them very well) over the years have gotten married... and only told me far after the fact. Planned weddings, not elopements. And there's email, so it wouldn't have been difficult.

Maybe it's the Sudafed talking, but, damn. I am feeling mighty insignificant today. And I have a test tonight that I didn't know about (hence, or study for). I guess I should've stuck with the memes, huh?

    When in Doubt...
    ...bring a meme out!

    Per Google, Jennie needs...

    1. our backing to beat scourge
    2. a shooter
    3. time to process instructions
    4. encouragement to clean her teeth properly
    5. to milk the cows
    6. to know that she is supported
    7. a home without other pets or small children
    8. eyes and ears on the ground
    9. your vote!
    10. our thoughts and well wishes

See, you've just been spared another wah-wah post. Lucky dog.
