Pleasepleasepleaseplease...
...someone tell me that you've seen TJ's Frozen Steel-Cut Oats very recently. Because I haven't in two trips, and I'm beginning to worry. Actually, since the case space they used to occupy is now filled with waffles, I'm more accurately beginning to panic. If you're an oatmeal fan, and you've eaten them, you'll know why this is such a big deal.

Rants du Jour
My stomach is a cauldron, listening to the bub throw a massive screamy tantrum in his room. Reason? Mystery of the toddler universe. Well, I know how it started, but I don't know why it continued at fever pitch long after the drama was over. It's one of those rare times that I just couldn't take another second, and, for our safety, had to walk away.

And of course it's one of those days when I've got a thousand things I want/need to get done. Of course. Most importantly, I have a project, documentation, and test due at midnight, and I was going to spend my time "off" working on that, but who knows, at this rate. I may just have to use it to acquire antipsychotics instead.

Am I the only person that hates the carseat and toddler combination? Trying to force/wrestle/cajole them in when they JUST DON'T WANT TO GO? When they're in a mood? There are days I loathe the thought of running errands, and multiple stops especially, because getting him back in the car safely is pure drudgery. And it doesn't matter how stern I get with him about it; I'm sure he usually does it with me alone because of the sheer routine of it all.

If You Want to Understand...
...really, really understand why, every now and again, I can barely contain my wistfulness for the U.P. here, you should take a look at this photoset. Look, you can even see my dorm. The other sets are great, as well.

The peninsula is a study in stark contrast -- blistering chill and mosquito-misery swelter, wild but genteel, unique, yet typical small-town American.

I've been spending a lot of time on Flickr lately; as it grows it definitely becomes an invaluable resource for memory-jogging.

Guy Love
Okay, I admit. I wasn't totally on-board with the idea of a Scrubs musical episode. And there were parts that did disappoint.

But Guy Love made up for all of those. And then some. Yes, it did.

Happy 34...
...Roe v. Wade. I'm hoping we're both able to make it as peacefully as possible through at least another 34.

Catchup
Not that I regret participating in NaBloPoMo or the less-famous but still-effective DecBloPooPoo, but now I've got a case of blog burnout (BloBu?). Plus, much of my sparse winter creative juice is flowing into Flickr.

I'm thinking about LASIK again, and this time, seriously. I've been done nursing for months, so no worries about hormones and eye pressure fluctuations. And I just learned that, instead of a mechanical blade, a laser can now be used to make the flap, presumably with greater accuracy (plus, the thought of a metal blade SAWING INTO MY EYEBALL really gives me the heebies; see, I'm visibly shuddering again). I'm sick of glasses that are never clean, and contacts that irk during allergy season. And I'd be trusting a pioneer in the industry, so that helps allay some of my fears. Well. We'll see (ha).

Type A question of the day: do you organize items in your grocery cart by type, and then try to put them up in the order they should rightfully be bagged, too? Cold dairy, frozen boxes, cans, health, etc., with crushables at the tail end. Most baggers realize that you don't put Borax and bread together (the alliteration notwithstanding), but some don't, so I figure every little bit helps.

A friend of my sister suffered terrible loss last year -- both her parents in the span of a few months. Even so, she was kind enough to offer up her mother's classroom collection of books (she was a first grade teacher), and we received a large boxful. Truly a fantastic treasure. I've catalogued (albeit very basically) them all here.

I'm in Looooooooove...
...with Picnic by Ellie. The colors. The photos. The retro style. I want to come live at your house. That's not creepy, is it?

Flickritis
Now that I've gone Pro on Flickr, I've regained a bit of interest in the whole idea. And I think there'll be a change or two in the works.

I've never been particularly squeamy about sharing photos online (noticed?). Some folks say my lack of compulsion to hide might be irresponsible, and others say that's bullpuckey. I've never much cared to debate the point.

Lately, though, I've taken a couple that I want to share, but not share, if you know what I mean. But I have to do some Flickr housekeeping, first. When I began using Flickr, I was knee-deep in sleepless zombieness and baby poop, and made everyone I added a Contact. Even D. is a Contact. I never thought I'd want it otherwise, and the thought of even that much sorting/labelling hurt my battered head. So.

In other non-news, still feeling a bit floppy. Yesterday I napped, fell asleep drooling on the couch in the evening, and slept in this morning. Might be the January blahs.

Beat.
It's been a busy, busy few days -- D's mom has been staying with us, and we've been doing the tourist thing (which we'll repeat, to a lesser extent, with my family again in May!). It was fun, but, damn, am I tired. Lots of catching up to do. For now, you can look at my Flickr stream, if you haven't already.
