Domaineering
Well, I may only be fourth in the US, but in the UK, I'm number one. Go name, go!

The holder of the parked jennie dot com domain offered it to D. over the weekend. We thought, sure, that might be cool.

Just not $15K cool.

Me Oh My Oh
I'm still here. Not here as in writing, or taking pictures (there goes 365, whoops), but here. Alive. Semi-dieting. Giving myself shin splints. Watching and still thoroughly in love with RiffTrax. And Lost, and Heroes, and The Office, and Jericho, of course. Also:

Been spending time poring over the confessions over yonder. Almost like anonymous group therapy on a large scale.

Gearing up for our third (!!!) year down there this weekend.

Thinking about getting schooled right where I sit over the summer (no classes that apply to my certs, may as well have some "fun").

Hacking away at the overgrowth out back. I've already filled five lawn bags with dead vines, branches, errant shrubbery, and English Ivy (oi), armed with shears and a lovely wicked little folding handsaw from OSH (they had a machete -- don't think I wasn't tempted). And I'm not finished yet! D. said today that I should've taken a before picture, and I do believe he's right.

And the family P. arrives from afar next week, so we'll be occupied for the near future. We haven't seen my quasi-twin in three years, which I think is a record, and also unbelievable.

Take That!
Back in the beginning of March, you may remember that my irritation with unwanted credit card mail had reached critical mass. I popped on optoutprescreen, and I've been noticing distinctly less financially dangerous waste in our mailbox.

Hoorah!

Monday
Thanks to Ellen for talking up washing curly hair with only conditioner. I'm actually beginning to see improvement, and I've just been at it a week. I still wash my scalp with shampoo every other day -- no choice there -- though.

I've started up with Sparkpeople this weekend. I've got to drop thirty pounds to get back to my prenatal weight (again. And forty to get down to a healthy BMI), and I think this will really be a useful tool. I lost fifteen with the quite-similar-but-not-free Weight Watchers program back in 2003, so I have high hopes for this, as well -- watching my caloric intake/burn in black-and-white is a great motivator.

It's been cooler so far than it was last year, I think. This makes me happy. And bodes well for my walking routine.

Do You Ever...
...have days (weeks, months?) where it feels like you've got both real-life and virtual spinach stuck in your teeth? Or you forgot to put on deodorant? No matter where you go?

Yeah. Um. Me neither.

Highly Illogical
The logic of Flickr Explore eludes me. If the one (horrible, kind of pointless) photo of mine that actually made it there was ever in the 500 most "interesting" photos of the day... well, it must've been a stellar day for photography.

Robins and Ricola
I didn't fall asleep until after midnight, and, still, I was awake -- wide awake -- by 4:30. Weird dreams and a scratchy throat due to some (ew) postnasal drip, were, I suppose, the culprits.

Not that it wasn't nice to enjoy some quiet alone time, listening to the spring rain, but I'll bet I'm going to be zombified by noon. Luckily the bub usually still takes naps.

One Thing He Doesn't Get From Me
The bub has passed through the "screaming near strangers" phase, and gone right to that "social butterfly" one with which I've so little experience. Especially around other kids.

At the playground, he runs right up to them, enthusiastically throwing himself into whatever activity is happening. Especially if said activity involves sand. He's had a lifelong obsession with sand - even foregoing twisty slides in its favor - so any friend of sand is automatically a friend of his.

He's fascinated with older children, and the solitary ones always seem more than happy to let him join in. I think it helps that he speaks pretty well for his age. Today, a girl of five or six was building a sand "castle," and of course! the bub wanted in on that. It was so sweet, the cooperation (and perhaps a little one-sided adoration). And when the girl was doing a sort-of tumbling act on the sand, and it looked, for a brief moment, as if she might have hurt herself (nope), the bub rushed over with a worried "You okay???" And he was positively frantic for her safety when she hung upside-down from the monkey bars ("Get down from dere! Too high! Too high up dere!").

He seems to forget I'm even around for a good ten minutes at a time, so I'm thinking that my worries about his preschool-ability were unfounded, after all. Aside from potty training.

But that's another story.

Sheesh.
Has it really been a week since I last posted? Goodness, I'm slipping.

Last weekend we took the bub to an Easter egg "hunt" (punctuation here indicating the maximum looseness that word allows), and today, we had our annual Easter picnic, up at Spring Lake. Same table as last year, with the same great view. And lizards. All the photos are in my Flickr Easter set. Except the ones of our eggs (we didn't buy them at the store this year! imagine that!), I haven't uploaded those from my phonecam yet.

I apologize for that last April Fool's post. Sort of. Except to Lindsay. Hee.
