Tiny Me
The last couple of days have seen cell browsers visiting here. Weird, because they've been very few and very far between in the past. And then, suddenly, there they are.
It costs a bajillion dollars to browse on our cell plan, so I'm not curious enough to look and see what you are. I hope it doesn't suck!

Kickin' It the Old Skool
The old Media Center machine was becoming painfully inadequate, so D. ordered up a shiny new one, and things in viewing land are all happy and spiffy now. It's so nice to watch a recorded show without constant hiccups and stoppages!
Now he's using the old machine upstairs to transfer a bunch of our remaining VHS stuff to digital. Some movies, some old home footage. I never had access to a video camera until recently, but D. has some old-ish stuff (glee!).
This reminds me to ask my mom about some very, very old home movies that I remember watching when my grandpa was still alive. I'd love to see some of that stuff professionally transferred.

Wee
Just imagine -- with the new iLoupe microscopic digital camera, I could take bad pics of really, really tiny things, too!
I wonder how much it's going to cost? Far too rich for my blood, I'm certain. Pity. But I suppose there are much cheaper, if geekier, options for capturing smallness.

Mysteries of the Blogosp... Ah, Never Mind.
Most Blogspot users don't post a link to their RSS feed. Last night I realized that, regardless, my reader will still Auto Discover the feeds, yippedy! Buuuut... only for some. Not others.
*scratches head*
Oh, and same goes for LJ -- except it's worked for every LJ I've tried.

D. applied a fancy-shmancy character verification thing-y to my comments, as I was under attack. Hopefully it will keep the bots at bay...

Better with Age
So bizarre.
For the first few months of owning our new phones, the batteries had to be charged almost daily. And we barely use them, so, frustration.
Then, a couple of weeks ago, I realized that I hadn't charged up in a few days - and my battery indicator was still full! It went on that way for a good week. Then D's phone began to follow suit. And now the batteries act seemingly, well... normal.
Just weird, is all.

Stupid Flickr
So I've got my Flickr contacts page in my RSS reader. But for some reason, I'm not "getting" all the new pictures. WTF? The reader seems to be working just fine for everything else.

That's That.
Adieu, TrackBack. Parting is such sweet... well, relief, honestly. I've not much time/patience/know-how/non-babyfried brain cells to devote to coddling something that's used so very infrequently.
The link was crowding out multiple-categoried closing lines, anyhow.
As for the things I do use... ugh. Don't get me started again on Cingular/Motorola. Sunday I lost the signal three times in a ten-minute conversation (we're not in Siberia here, people!). Not to mention the multimedia software went kaput. Again. My attempts at fixing probably even made the situation worse. My restraint has been quite laudable, really; the phone has not yet become a missile.

My, What a Cute Little Head Tumor Factory You Have!
Yay! for cute little flip phones with cameras. Now we can be all hip, too. Boo! for charging $50 for the software to download the photos.

Yes, we had no internet for FOUR days. Sounds familiar, huh? Yay Comcast! If you sent me email since Thursday, I may not get it.

Adobe Un-Reader
Does anyone else have as much trouble with .pdf files as I do? My (very much up-to-date) pc chokes on them at least 60% of the time, no matter the browser. And when it does work, loading/rendering takes a ridiculous amount of time. It makes me so angry when a site keeps its most important info in a .pdf, and I need to read it, and I can't. Grrr!
Update: I found a way (albeit a crappy one) to get around the problem. Save the doc, and then open it with Photoshop. At least it works.

Another Pointless Opinion from a Not-Terribly-Wealthy Person
I don't believe in a good free ride. Which is why I voluntarily ponied up what I thought was a reasonable sum ($50) when I downloaded MT in the first place.
The new pricing scheme is simply too much, too soon, for too little. True, I'd personally pay much less than the "introductory price" to upgrade because of the donation. But I can well understand the general sense of WTF happening today. The sheer surprise of it, paired with the fact that it shoves a whole class of non-commercial group sitemasters out in the cold (you know, unless they happen to have, say, a spare $600 lying around), does leave one with a certain bitter aftertaste. And the "Well - don't upgrade, then!" or "Use something else!" aside from irking in a peevish way, ignores the whole flagrant abuse of the bordering-on-rabid loyalty issue.

Please, to Answer
A lot of you folks are using MT, and take advantage of the built-in comments. I don't use them on this site for one reason: for me, at least, the text appears like molasses. Doesn't matter whose site I visit, I can't read your comments within half a minute unless I highlight the text myself. I'm trying to implement them on the still-infant-after-all-these-years letterboxing site, hoping for an improvement, but no such luck.
Do you notice this, too? Why does it happen? Does MT just really hate IE? Am I just crazy nuts? Whywhywhy?

Oops
Technical difficulties, lost any comments from the past couple days (sorry!). At least it had the good grace to happen before we leave tomorrow.

Kaput.
Email account - trashed (if you've emailed me, that may be why you didn't get a reply. I either didn't receive it, or my mail didn't go out. Both have been happening at a frighteningly increasing rate). Notify list - fubar. What to do? See comments for new info, and test 'em, because I like getting mail. Plus it's my b-day weekend, so you should obey me.

Give up the Ghost
I can't import my archives. I've tried, over and over and over again, at different times of different days. And there's not a thing wrong with our FTP. Maybe the file's too big - it is, after all, three years of posting nearly daily.
So we're all just going to have to live with an uncategorized past. I'm sure you'll live. The part of me that's not a psycho control freak will live, too.
I really need to switch the Reusablog over to MT. Because now I'm spoiled, and I know I won't post there again until I do.
