Flickr! Has video!

Pinch me, tell me I'm not dreaming. Don't get me wrong, I love YouTube for what it's good at -- offering up daily hilarity. But it's a rotten place to host family videos, thanks to the little punk trolls who apparently have a running "who can leave the most mean-spirited, pointless comments imaginable?" contest. And other sites are slow or limiting or just annoying in some other way.

Now I can keep all my media in one reliable spot. Can send guest passes to an event set, and not send folks to two separate sites.

Kid Vid
It's been a long, long time since I've used the Handycam, huh? This morning the bub said he'd let me record his wonderful singing for the Grandmas, and so I did. And here it be.

He sings most of the day, usually. What I really need to do is set up the camera and let it go for an hour -- the lyrics he makes up are priceless.

Merry Merry
I hope you're having a pleasant day. It's been quiet here, mostly. Lots of loot and food. Santa brought me a Wacom tablet which will be more than handy for all things graphical.

Here's a little video that's long overdue, and has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas. It's a bit of the bub's birthday at Dillon Beach over the summer. Maybe I'll have the holiday video done by the next birthday!

Dia de los Muertos
Well, we tried to see the procession in the Plaza downtown last night, but it seemed as if we'd missed it. So we decided to eat in the veranda at the wonderfully old McNear's (where famous folks like Seth Green hang out when they visit Petaluma on nearby LucasFilm business, or so I've been told, insert fangirl blush and giggle here).

We didn't really miss it, after all, because it danced past the windows about fifteen minutes later! Next year we'll know to grab some outdoor seating, weather permitting, and really have a fantastic show.

So I didn't catch any footage of the procession as I'd planned. But I did get a bit of the bub enjoying his dinner with reckless abandon, seen here. I must say that I'm very impressed with the improvements to YouTube, in both upload and processing speeds (the latter often took hours to complete just a few months ago).

Thank Goodness for Night Vision Mode.
Here's the trick-or-treating video -- it comes in long, even with brutal editing, at six minutes.

He was met with collective "Awwwwwwww!"s everywhere, and, even though he's a tad young, who are we to deprive the people of The Cuteness? Pshaw. We seemed to catch the houses where he was the most apprehensive, but, honestly! we didn't have to drag him to every door. It's all part of the "get him out in public as much as possible so he doesn't end up an antisocial hermit like us" plan.

Of course scoring a little bucket of candy for us didn't hurt, either. Think of it as partial payback for the tantrums.

This neighborhood goes all out on Halloween, even so far as making haunted houses in garages and spooked-out "tunnels" up to the door (too scary for bub, of course). And the loot! Oh my goodness. It's a very popular place, as you might imagine.

This Only Took an Evening and Night to "Process..."
A new video of the bub in all his untamed glory. It's long-ish, but the drama is at the end, so stick it out. That is, if you haven't passed out because of my amateur camerawork!
