Sutter's Fort
Our first trip to the reconstructed Sutter's Fort in downtown Sacramento. The settlement, built when California was still part of Mexico, was originally named New Helvetia. The fort itself only lasted a few years, the lands and walls raided by gold-hungry eastern migrants.
